How this new edition came to be....
Our original edition launched in May 2021. We had a lot of success early on and were able to gain the attention of the publishing company McClaren-Cochrane, who's sole focus was publishing books in a dyslexic inclusive font for people with dyslexia! In August 2021 we signed on with them to have this new edition created for kiddos (and parents and grandparents) who have dyslexia.
Unfortunately, due to Covid and significant pricing increases in distribution and printing costs, this publishing house had to close it's doors in late 2021 (in the middle of creating our dyslexic-inclusive edition).
We felt passionately that this was an edition we wanted to release to the world based on the public response we initially received (see below). We moved forward with self-publishing this edition to bring it into the world - and pretty soon this will be the only edition of our book available (as we will be sunsetting our original version)!
We were completely blown away by the response from the public when we initially released this news.
"I wish there were books with this font when I was growing up!!"
"This brought me to tears learning that there is a font out there designed for people with Dyslexia. This is life changing."
"When I was growing up, I always was just told I wasn't very smart. How cool to live in an age where we can put a name to this learning disability. I hope this font helps kiddos fall in love with reading, something I was too intimidated by."
What we learned....
Many people have never heard of a dyslexic-inclusive font, and the response seems to be unanimous across the board! People WANT to see more of this font and if it has the ability to help even one person read with a little more ease, I believe that's a good thing.
I hope that our book helps to bring awareness to dyselxia but more importantly the idea that there are tools and people can use to make reading easier for people with dyslexia!
